Yggdrasil Guest Lodge is the result of the renovation work we carried out on a traditional farmhouse in the parish of Østerlars on Bornholm.
The original farm was built in 1922; it comprised a small house in which a large family lived, a big barn and an outbuilding hosting the pigsty, a small stable, a workshop and a boiler room. All three buildings were set around a closed courtyard. The farmland was sold in 1986 when the last farmer died.
We bought the property in 2017 and moved into the house which had already been modernised and turned into a very comfortable country house with splendid gardens.
The renovation of the barn and the outbuilding took place in 2019. The barn has been converted into a large open space with no amenities. The outbuilding has been transformed into a guesthouse.
The accommodation and bathrooms are on the ground floor to ensure easy access and use for wheel chairs. There is an open space on the first floor which can be used for gatherings or quiet reflective work.
We opened in March 2020 just in time for the pandemic to put an end to the initial vision. A couple of months later we decided to set up a traditional Bed & Breakfast in the guesthouse. It has been growing over the seasons to become a beautiful sanctuary where one can rest in the quiet and stillness on the fields and woods.

The bathroom is not en suite. To ensure privacy, each room is allocated a private room (shower, washbasin and toilet) in the bathroom area. The bigger bathroom is designed to accommodate a wheel chair.
The use of the kitchen for making meals is not included in the Bed & Breakfast option.
There is high quality internet coverage in all the buildings.
There is a parking for guests.
Yggdrasil Guest Lodge is a place of silence and stillness. We ask guests to be mindful of any excessive noise that might disturb those practicing contemplative silence. The use of earphones or headsets is recommended when listening to music or watching films. Night-time silence is from 11pm to 6pm.

All over Denmark, it is prohibited to smoke indoors. If you are a smoker refrain from smoking close to the buildings, find a secluded place and take care of your cigarette butts.
Respect nature’s gifts by actively taking part in recycling and selective waste disposal. Don’t litter and discover the pleasure of gathering litter to dispose of it responsibly.
The guest lodge has a reputation of being spotlessness and well-kept, something guests comment appreciatively as you might have read in the reviews.
