Green fly to Bornholm from Copenhagen with DAT (Danish Air Transport)
There are several flights by day to and from Copenhagen which can be added on to an international flight with SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) bringing you almost to our door step. With an ongoing domestic flight, your luggage will be checked through to Bornholm from wherever you start.
Rønne the main port on Bornholm can be reached from three locations: Køge in Denmark with the commercial night ferry, Sassnitz in Germany and Ystad in Sweden.
The quickest route from Copenhagen is via the Øresund Bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden and the ferry from Ystad.
The ferries are operated by Bornholmslinjen (see picture above). Their website is well-designed and provides interesting tips for onward journeys.
All the ports can be reached by train and there are long-term car parks if you want to leave your car behind and avoid the costly fee (especially during the high season) of boarding with a car.

The line to Bornholm starts behind the central train station of Copenhagen where all coach services arrive and leave. It includes a stop at Copenhagen airport which means that you can hop on the bus almost as you come off your flight.
There are two options: (1) bus ride to Ystad port terminal then boarding the ferry on foot or (2) a bus that drives on and off the ferry at the other end. The second option is good if you have heavy luggage because you put it in the haul of the bus when you start off and pick it up at the other end.
It is also possible to include a bicycle as part of the luggage. Be sure to add on the option when purchasing your ticket.
There is a good regional bus service (BAT) that covers most of the islands. Timetables are tailored to fit in with the arrival and departures of ferries and flights. The buses run every two hours on the main lines, so careful planning is required.
Fortunately, there is a fantastic app Rejsebillet that covers public transport all over Denmark. Once it is installed and your profile set up, the app will calculate the best itinerary and price. You can then purchase your tickets which are usually valid for 2 hours. You can’t purchase tickets on the bus, so the app is a must! It is possible to take your bicycle on the bus; remember to click the option when purchasing your ticket.
This is a private minibus service mainly catering for hikers dropping them off or picking them up from any spot on the island they want to walk to or from and that might not be easy to reach by the public transport.
It also offers cheap rates to and from the airport or port at 60 kr. versus approx. 400,00 kr. for a taxi.

In Demark, taxis are operated via a central system Dantaxi in partnership with Uber. Being a small island there is no taxi ramp at the airport or the port. You have to order your taxi online or via the app Dantaxi.
