An Online Workshop - The Mysticism of Inditing

Saturday 21 January 2023

My Heart Is Inditing

The purpose of the workshop is threefold:

  1. Uncover the art form which enables us to bring the exquisite invisible into a precious and cherished visible form.
  2. Develop our capacities for voicing the truths that dwell in our heart.
  3. Initiate an experience of inhabiting and dwelling in the imaginal realm so as to unleash the powerful creativity populating our heart-centre.

The workshops are designed to explore a place visited on our odyssey with wholeness. During the gatherings, we bathe in sounds and resonances, ingest words and lyrics, play with colours and shades, juggle with shapes and forms, and tease out textures and grains. These playful games tantalise our senses, arouse our sensory faculties and, through an exquisite blends of words and music, enticing us to a virtuosity of wordsmithing and chanting. Basking in the imaginal realm draws forth our deepest feelings and crystalises our most precious thoughts so that our hearts may indite something of matter in whatever art form feels true to us.

January Intermission

Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey is the account of Odysseus’ thirty-year journey back and forth on the Mediterranean Sea, as he seeks his way home to Ithaca after the Trojan wars. Throughout his epic voyage he sails the unknown seas and he is nudged towards his own spiritual edges, invited to stand in the prophetic position of all his ambiguities, inconsistencies and brokenness, and to repeatedly drop down into the fracture of knowing and not knowing.

As we set off to speak and sing the things we have seen on our odyssey with wholeness, we’ll begin by following the wake of Odysseus’ ship and contemplating the unknown seas stretching towards the horizon. The theme for the January workshop is seascapes; pondering on the core element of water in all and any journey of spiritual unfoldment is bound to take us to unfamiliar and unknown places within ourselves, all eager to resurface in awareness.

Seascapes have always fascinated composers and musicians, and we have a rich repertoire of music celebrating water and the sea to delve into for our first initiation into the mysticism of inditing.
