Fire & Crises

The Art of Voicing from the Heart

An Online Workshop

Saturday 21 October 2023

Sublime Stillness

I yearn for the sublime stillness of the mountains

Earthing me

Securing me

Holding my feet firm to ground.

I absorb the sublime stillness of the lake

Remembering me

Mirroring me

Reflecting back my sacred vows.

I sigh for the sublime stillness of the air

Breathing me

Sustaining me

Connecting me to universe.

I weep for the sublime stillness of my heart

Enlivening me

Cajoling me

Stoking my creativity.

October Flames

For the last months of this yearlong journey consecrated to unveiling the art of voicing from the heart, we are creatively engaging with the four elements which make up the many splendours of life: water, earth, fire and air.

October is the last month of the Celtic year culminating with the celebrations of Samhain or Halloween on the 31st. It is the perfect time for gathering at the end of the day to celebrate the qualities of fire as we throw into the flames everything we no longer need and will not be taking into the new year. Times of completion are auspicious moments for creating space for something new to begin and relinquishing obsolete materials which hinder our expansion into wholeness.

Surprisingly, our life-giving surrender brings peace to all the crises which besiege and haunt us. What’s more, it restores the flow of life meandering gracefully in landscapes, be they inner or outer, imbued with universal love. The rites of fire include a moment of stillness in the liminal space where we give thanks for everything that we have received before we resume the journey of falling upwards.

The theme feels all the more timely as we face a new spate of worldly crises and upheavals challenging ongoing peace efforts.  So, what might become available when we don’t turn away from the inevitable crises that make up the colourfulness and beauty of life? When we learn to harness the elemental power of fire? Our time together fully participates in bringing our loving awareness to all the edges we encounter where the waves of inner overwhelm crash against the outer events likely to overcome us. Consenting to stay in the midst of the turmoil makes of us wholemakers and peacemakers, something that beautifully shines through our creative endeavours.

To enliven and embolden the theme of fire and crises, during our time together in the sacred circle of wholeheartedness, we will play with the colour red in all its shades and hues, and delve into fiery music to uplift us and stoke our creativity.

Let us praise the grace and risk of Fire.

In the beginning,

The Word was red,

And the sound was thunder,

And the wound in the unseen

Spilled forth the red weather of being.

My Heart Is Inditing

The purpose of the workshop is threefold:

  1. Uncovering the artform based on written language which enables us to bring the exquisite invisible into a precious and cherished visible form
  2. Developing our capacities for voicing the truths that dwell in our heart
  3. Initiating an experience of inhabiting and dwelling in the imaginal realm so as to unleash the powerful creativity populating our heart

There are three parts to the workshop.

  1. The first is a sequence of words and music taking us on a transformative voyage of discovery
  2. The second is a guided writing practice following the waves of consciousness unfolding
  3. The third is a time of sharing, not about what might have been produced – and is usually largely work in progress – rather a sharing around the experience of being with others in a creative container dedicated to written language
