Wholeness of Selfhood

Voicing from the Heart

The Mysticism of Inditing

Words and Music

Words do not teach us much, and at times they can even be cumbersome. Most of us know of the chatter and clutter that can overwhelm and besiege us, preventing us from feeling ourselves, truly and wholly, in wholeness of selfhood. Nonetheless, when we sense a vibrational match between what we are experiencing, how life is living itself in us, and the information coming towards us, then words can help us frame our experience, utterly transform us and transport us elsewhere. Let me share a personal experience of the kind.

One early morning, still in bed, I was listening to music with my AirPods firmly riveted in my ears and my eyes closed. The music was Handel’s Coronation Anthem N° 4. My Heart Is Inditing: exquisite and uplifting. As I listened to the words, in the in-betweenness of dawn before the day is fully with us claiming us to a fullness of life, I first heard, “My heart is inviting”. I could feel the flutter in my own heart, a compelling call, and a quieter voice telling me to check up the correct verb-form. This was my first encounter with the specific signature of inditing, a crucial turning point in my odyssey with wholeness which then impacted my unravelling of the pathways to selfhood and the completion of Book Two.

The Heart's Song

Inditing is an old biblical verb, an antiquated expression, which basically means to speak from the heart. The lyrics of Handel’s anthem come from Psalm 45:1,10,12 and Isaiah 49:23.

My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. (Psalm 45:1 – KJV)

The verb ‘to indite’ means to express or to describe in literary or formal expression, in others words to compose and to put down in writing. It comes from the Latin indicere meaning, “to make known formally”, not be confused with the verb ‘to indict’, a judicial term which means to formally accuse somebody of something.

Discovering that there is actually a verb that describes speaking from the heart has been a life-changing experience for me, an epiphany, the precious moment when I experienced an almost perfect vibrational match between the lyrics, “My heart is inditing”, and the purpose of my work with words and music, writing and singing the odyssey with wholeness. Needless to add that it has vigorously fashioned my work ever since.

The Power of Inditing

Inditing is the voicing of the heart, the nous. The inditing heart weeps, rages, criticises, bestows blessings and curses as it reveals the unpleasant truths, we need to hear in order to further wake up and break through all the individual and cultural illusions maintaining us in a trancelike lethargy and complacency. The inditing heart offers itself to storytelling, singing and conveying the countless dramas that season and flavour the human experience. It follows one unique and sole purpose: the conversion of the heart, the restoration of the flow of life and, in so doing, the healing of world and humanity.

Inditing gives form to a genre of storytelling where we string together facts and events and allow the life-giving purpose woven into the story to reveal itself. It beckons us to allow the deeper meaning in words to breathe into us, to animate us, to ignite us. We are to be infilled, instilled, indwelled, infused, imbued, all verbs with the prefix -in, as is the case with inditing, the use of the prefix –in indicating that something transformative is about to occur within.

We indite by combining different voices carried through words, sounds, colours, textures and all other forms of artistic expression known to us. The larger invitation is to return to the basics, the essence of what is in origin, so as to tap into source-based and heart-centred frequencies. We then attune to their signature, and become living and fully conscious higher-vibrational expressions of life.

Inditing is beneficial for learning to move in and out, back and forth, and across the liminal spaces we encounter on the prophetic edges. It not only takes us to our spiritual edges, the edge on the inside, the rim between what we think is us and what is not us, the edge of knowing and not knowing, the places where we need to be stretched, and where everything converges, it also supports us in standing and staying, in silence and stillness, in the prophetic position. This is the only place, and the only way, we learn to live precariously with paradoxical perspectives. We hold them tightly in our heart, whilst witnessing the necessary creative tension being stretched to the point of rupture, until the energy summoned in the catalytic experience propels us further along the path of non-dual consciousness towards wholeness and oneness.

Absolute Truth

Inditing is the conduit that gives us access a vast repertoire of knowledge, wisdom and artistic expression, all held in the collective psyche. As we pursue our work of becoming fully human, it offers a passageway towards the unified field of consciousness of which each one of us is a shard of light, an expression of the divine. Inditing is a portal transporting us to our True Selves in wholeness, our sovereign selfhood, and what we intuit as being of absolute validity, the undiscussable Truth.

However this absolute truth presents itself to us, it does not need our perfect understanding. In a twinkling of perfect humbleness, we understand that all our words, worldviews and discourses are the equivalent of children happily playing before the infinite mystery and the wonderment of life. Our search for the ultimate truth, at any age, in any culture, whatever the language, the symbol, the icon, the imagery, the rituals and ceremonies will always point us into the same direction: more love, more connectedness, unfolding in ever-widening circles, consciousness unfolding unto itself in fractal motifs. Inditing is the playing field offered to us for giving voice to the beauty and the love swelling in our heart.

Twelve Workshops for Cherishing our Inditing Heart

As an introduction to voicing through the heart and the mysticism of inditing, I host a two-hour online workshop, from 18.00 to 20.00 (CET), every third Saturday of the month.

The purpose of the workshops is threefold:

  1. Uncover the art form which enables us to bring the exquisite invisible into a precious and cherished visible form.
  2. Develop our capacities for voicing the truths that dwell in our heart.
  3. Initiate an experience of inhabiting and dwelling in the imaginal realm so as to unleash the powerful creativity populating our heart-centre.

The workshops are designed to explore a place visited on our odyssey with wholeness. During the gatherings, we bathe in sounds and resonances, ingest words and lyrics, play with colours and shades, juggle with shapes and forms, and tease out textures and grains. These playful games tantalise our senses, arouse our sensory faculties and, through an exquisite blends of words and music, enticing us to a virtuosity of wordsmithing and chanting. Basking in the imaginal realm draws forth our deepest feelings and crystalises our most precious thoughts so that our hearts may indite something of matter in whatever art form feels true to us.

I am particularly interested in working with different languages and will be inviting participants to work in their native language, the language of the heart, the language we inhabit and dwell in. Conversely, we can explore the frequencies of different languages, like different musical instruments, to sense and savour where there is more resonance, more bittersweet desire, deeper yearning, in other words where love expresses itself with fierce intensity and passion.

You can find out more about the different workshops by following the links in the coloured boxes in the programme below.
